What is Örebro Student Union and what do you do?
Örebro Student Union is the only student union in Örebro and represents all students and doctoral candidates at Örebro University. We work to ensure that you receive the education you have been promised, and we advocate for student welfare and social issues to help create a fun, supportive, and secure student experience.
Do I need to be a member to study at Örebro University?
No, you do not need to be a member of Örebro Student Union to study at Örebro University. However, a membership is required to participate in the introduction activities and many other events and activities throughout your time as a student.
How much does membership cost and how long is it valid for?
Membership options are available for different lengths of study:
- 1 semester: SEK 250
- 2 semesters: SEK 300
- 6 semesters: SEK 750
Your membership is valid for the number of semesters included in the membership option you choose.
How can I get involved in the student union or its associations?
There are many ways to get involved! You can join a student association, run for a position in the student union elections, participate in events, or volunteer for a project.
Visit us at our office or get in touch with us, and we’ll help you find an opportunity that matches your interests and goals.
Do you organize events and activities, and how can I stay updated?
Yes, Örebro Student Union organizes a wide range of events and activities throughout the year.
Information about upcoming events is usually shared on our Instagram account (@orebrostudentkar), but you can also find more information here.
If you have any questions or suggestions for a specific event, you are always welcome to contact us.
Where can I find the student union’s premises and when are you open?
The student union’s premises are located at Studentgatan 5, in the same building as Kårhuset, with the entrance facing Teknikhuset.
The reception is open Monday–Thursday, 10:30–12:30.
Education
Can I benefit from the student union membership if I study remotely?
Yes, you can!
Student union benefits such as discounts and offers, as well as certain assignments or opportunities, are still available even if you study remotely.
If you want to know more or have specific questions about remote membership, you are welcome to contact us.
What should I do if I have problems with my education?
If you experience issues with your studies, you should first contact the educational representative for your department, who can help you further. You can find the educational representatives within each student section.
You are also always welcome to contact the vice chair responsible for educational policy or the student and doctoral ombudsman. Their contact details can be found here.
Where can I find my course syllabus?
You can find your course syllabus on Örebro University’s official website. Click here to access it.
How can I influence my education if I want to share my opinions?
There are many ways to have an impact on your education. The easiest and most effective way is to become a student representative in a committee or forum, where issues related to university education are discussed.
